A little bit of back story before we get into the lessons, after much hesitation and saying no to an electric brush for a long time. I decided to give it a try. I bought an Oral-B Vitality 100 White Criss Cross Electric Rechargeable Toothbrush. Though I was hesitant about electric toothbrushes, I was equally excited to start my day with this new product. I received the package in the afternoon after breaking it out of the molded packaging box. I put it on the charging pad, and I was confused if it was charging or not but assumed its charging. The initial days were good as I was trying to learn how to use it properly. But the lessons started when they stopped in the middle of my brushing. One day it made me think. However, I was trying to keep it charging for long hours. Since there is no direct feedback, it's tough to be very sure. Also, it takes 30 mins to know whether it's charging or not.

Importance of feedback

After my new toothbrush started failing me in the middle of brushing sessions, every time I take my brush, this fear of failing me has started to peep in. This was when it made me recognize why feedback matters or why it is important to keep the users beware of what's happening with your product. Else how bad it could affect your product or brand's impression.

Even big brands make simple mistakes.

Another reason me choosing this brush was the association with Braun. From my early days, I have been admiring the minimal, functional, and aesthetic designs of Braun and Dieter Rams' association, known for the famous 10 principles for good design. But the experiences with my brush taught me that even big brands with good associations could also fail. Reminding me of the saying don't judge a book by its cover.
